Washable Incontinence Bed Pad and Protector - M007

Choosing Incontinence Products for Men and Women

Incontinence products should be chosen by the type of leakage, fit, absorbency and the person’s ability to change them. Products described for men or women may have different shapes, but individual needs remain the starting point.

Compare product types

Pads, pull-up pants, briefs and reusable garments serve different routines. Check how each is held in place, how it is changed and whether the wearer needs assistance.

Check size and fit

Use the manufacturer’s measurements and fit instructions. Repeated leakage may relate to fit, product type or other care needs; buying a higher absorbency alone is not always the answer.

Separate body protection from surface protection

Bed and chair pads help protect surfaces. They should not automatically replace a worn product. Check whether both are needed within the agreed routine.

Plan changes and laundry

Consider the help available, storage, disposal or washing arrangements, and care instructions. Keep spare products accessible without removing the person’s privacy or choice.

Seek continence advice

New or troublesome urinary leakage deserves discussion with a GP or continence service. Protection products support everyday management while the cause and treatment options are assessed.
