Activity Tabard – Wearable Sensory Activity Aid
The M028 Activity Tabard is a lightweight, wearable activity aid with a selection of colourful, familiar features on the front. It provides opportunities for visual and tactile exploration during everyday routines, whether the wearer is seated or taking part in supported activities. It may interest some people living with dementia, memory loss, learning disabilities or other sensory needs.
Familiar fastenings and textures
Different colours, textures and fabrics invite the wearer to explore the tabard at their own pace. The front includes wooden beads, a bow-tying string, a touch-close strip and a zip. These familiar features offer opportunities to practise everyday hand movements and explore different sensations; they do not guarantee improvements in dexterity, concentration or cognitive function.
A clear pocket can hold a photograph, drawing, greeting card or other suitable flat item. This allows carers and family members to personalise the activity with familiar images or topics for conversation. The response to familiar objects will vary from person to person.
