Nine-Chamber Sacral Positioning Cushion – Microbead
The M064 is a nine-chamber microbead positioning cushion designed to provide a softer sitting surface around the sacral and coccyx area. Eight outer chambers hold the majority of the filling, while the centre chamber has fewer microbeads to create a shallow recessed area. This construction differs from a flat foam cushion and may be useful in an individually planned seating arrangement.
Design and practical benefits
The cushion measures approximately 44 × 44 × 7 cm. The movable microbeads allow the support to respond to the sitter's shape, while the divided chambers help keep filling distributed. It is not a certified pressure-relieving treatment and cannot guarantee prevention of pressure ulcers. People at risk of skin breakdown should follow professional seating and pressure-care guidance.

How the nine-chamber design works
Unlike a single pouch of filling, the M064 divides its microbeads into nine sections. The outer sections help keep the filling around the central area, while the less-filled middle provides a softer contact zone. The arrangement can be considered when a user finds a flat cushion uncomfortable, but the most suitable seat cushion depends on posture, body shape, wheelchair setup and pressure risk. Check that the cushion remains correctly positioned and does not create instability.
Choosing a sacral cushion for everyday use
Measure the seat surface before buying and allow for the stated 7 cm depth, which may change the effective sitting height. If a person uses a wheelchair, additional cushion height can affect footrest position, armrest clearance and transfers. Do not stack cushions without appropriate assessment. Regular skin checks and changes of position remain important even when a soft positioning cushion is used.
