Incontinence Talk - Top 5 Reasons to Buy Reusable Washable Bed Pads
Incontinence is a condition where a person experiences involuntary loss of bladder or bowel control. It can be caused by various factors such as ageing, pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, neurological disorders, and certain medications.
Incontinence can have a significant impact on a person's quality of life, affecting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Managing incontinence can be challenging, and it requires a holistic approach that involves identifying the underlying cause, providing appropriate treatment, and implementing effective management strategies.
Some of the challenges in managing incontinence include the stigma associated with the condition, the lack of awareness and understanding, the cost of managing the condition, and the difficulty in finding a suitable product that provides adequate protection and comfort.
However, with the right support and resources, individuals with incontinence can lead a fulfilling and active life.
At Medoris Care, our aim is to help you to care with confidence. This is especially true when it comes to managing incontinence and the uncomfortable moments that it can cause for some.
You've probably heard that washable bed pads are a better option for incontinence than disposable pads, but what reasons are there to give them a try?
Here are 5 of the best reasons:
1. Economic
The first reason to buy washable bed pads is economic. The cost of disposable incontinence products can add up quickly, and if you have a loved one who needs them, that expense can be difficult for your family to manage.
Washable bed pads are much less expensive than their disposable counterparts. When compared with buying multiple packs of disposables every month (not including shipping), washables will save money on both your wallet and our environment by reducing wastefulness while still providing optimum protection during those night-time hours when things get busy down there … or everywhere else!
2. Kind to the environment
The second reason why purchasing washable incontinence products might be the right choice for you is that they're more environmentally friendly than disposable ones. When we think about our impact on this planet and how we can make it better, buying reusable products like these makes sense in so many ways: less waste being produced; less money spent on replacements; less energy used during production and shipping...the list goes on!
3. Effective
Washable bed pads are more effective than disposable diapers. They have a waterproof lining that prevents leaks from seeping into the mattress and bedding, so you don't have to worry about any stains or odours.
Triple Protection
Designed by a care professional with a wealth of practical experience, Medoris Washable Bed Pad offers triple protection.
Firstly, the soft top layer prevents the pooling of liquid, so it leaves the surface dry to the touch. This ensures that the user remains comfortable in bed while avoiding any infection that may occur from prolonged sitting on wet bedding.
Secondly, the middle layer, with its generous cotton padding, is highly absorbent which provides excellent fluid retention, as well as reduces any unpleasant odours.
Lastly, the bottom layer is waterproof and does not crack, which prevents leaking even when under pressure. Not only does this offer greater peace of mind, but it gives complete confidence that the bedding will remain protected, both day and night.
Additional Security
The pad also extends the full width of a single bed and has strong, generous tuck-in wings. These secure the pad in place and protect the sides of both the bedding and mattress. Particularly helpful for those who suffer from leaks while perched on the side of their beds.
Washable bed pads are just as effective at protecting your mattress from damage as disposable products - but they're much more comfortable and hygienic because they don't contain absorbent gels or other materials that trap moisture against your skin all night long (which can lead to rashes).
4. Comfortable
Washable bed pads are soft and comfortable, which makes them a better option than disposable pads or mattress protectors. They're soft and won't shift around or bunch up, staying in place for your peace of mind.
5. More dignifying than disposable sheets.
Unlike disposable sheets, washable bed pads blend in seamlessly with bedding, giving a more natural and homely feel to the bedroom. With a variety of textures and fabric options to choose from, washable bed pads can match any bedding set.
And if you're looking for a discreet solution for managing incontinence on chairs, our quilted incontinence chair pads are designed to look like a cosy blanket, offering both comfort and style.
Say goodbye to the clinical and impersonal environment that disposable sheets create, and switch to the more dignifying and stylish option of washable bed pads.
Our washable bed pads are perfect for those who want to say goodbye to the discomfort of incontinence leaks. With different sizes available, our pads are designed to fit your needs and offer protection and dignity, ensuring a stress-free day and night ahead.
We hope that you've found this article useful and informative. We know that there are many reasons to buy washable bed pads, but we believe that the five listed here are some of the most important ones. They're also all things we can relate to as people with incontinence!

How Do Washable Bed Pads Work?
Washable bed pads for incontinence work by providing a protective barrier between the person and the bed, furniture, or other surfaces. They are made of absorbent materials that can trap and hold urine, preventing it from leaking through to the bed or other surfaces. These pads are reusable and can be washed in a washing machine when soiled. Washable bed pads typically provide better protection than disposable ones and are more reliable, and don't tear.
What Are They Made Of?
Our Medoris washable and reusable incontinence pads are made of a blend of Rayon, Polyester and PVC. Face fabric: 100% Polyester, Soaker Fabric: 50% Polyester and 50% Rayon, Back fabric: 95% PVC and 5% Knitted Polyester. Rayon is a natural-based material that is made from cellulose obtained from wood pulp or cotton. We choose Rayon over Cotton for its higher absorbency.
What Is The Best Way To Clean Them?
Washable absorbent products are generally laundered the same way as normal washing – but we would not advice adding fabric softener to wash our Medoris Bed Pads as this can reduce absorbency.
Washable products can be laundered with other items in a family wash. However, you may find this unacceptable and the additional laundry too much of a burden.
Modern washing machines usually adjust the water to the load size so you don’t waste water with small loads.
